Great Gatsby Fanfic Recreation - Car Crash

I could tell by the look on Tom’s face how bothered he was. Daisy was slowly slipping away from him; he couldn’t stand it. We all were driving back from the horrendous encounter at the city, where all feelings were confessed. Daisy sat silent, with Gatsby and Jordan. I look to the side at Tom, who was gripping the steering wheel firmly, and practically flying down the highway.  “Maybe you should slow down, old sport.” Gatsby suggests. This prompted Tom to push harder on the gas, violently tearing past the Valley of Ashes. Moments later, a figure of a woman suddenly came out into the road- arms held up high and screaming. Tom’s eyes widened and before he could blink the car had stopped, whipping us all to the front of our seats. The sound of the car hitting the body was like a gunshot. “Tom- Oh my God! Why didn’t you slow down?” she cried out. Tom, blankly staring on the dash of the car, pale as a ghost. “I didn’t see her. She came out of nowhere.”,  he replies with a mon...
After reading chapter 7 of Great Gatsby, I think Daisy and Tom will end up together no matter what. They both highly value money and status which they are able to get in their relationship. Though they may not be truly in love and obviously have their many flaws within their relationship, the importance of reputation and wealth to them is bigger. Even when Gatsby and Daisy reunite, their “spark” is cut short and we see their dynamic when issues arise. For example, when Tom was talking badly about Gatsby, how his parties are shallow and how he’s a bootlegger, it is clear that Daisy begins to pull away. Another example of this is when Myrtle dies. They just go back to their home and act like nothing happened and end up fine. Even though Daisy has ended a life and potentially Gatsby’s if he is found guilty, she remains untouched. Ultimately, when Gatsby reputation starts to get unclear or questioned, Daisy instantly goes back to Tom. I think for Daisy, Tom is the safe and secure opti...
Having read chapters 1-3 in Great Gatsby during class this past week, it first looked like a classic story with rich people and their extravagant parties. However, after reading, I think Fitzgerald tries to make it seem like even with all their money and status, nothing is how it seems.       For example, in chapter 1 Nick visits Toms house and uses strong imagery to describe his home in a luxurious way. Tom and Daisy appear to have the "perfect" marriage with their wealth, status, and security. But as you read, you realize their relationship is shallow. Daisy says, “I’ve had a very bad time, Nick, and I’m pretty cynical about everything.”(pg.20) and it's obvious they are not as happy as they say they are / come off as.      In chapter two, we find that Tom is having an affair with a woman named Myrtle, whom Tom does not respect. Myrtle is arrogant and is intent on being part of "Tom's reality" of wealth and status, consistently talking about materiali...
